TROOPS’ ATHLETICS
SPORTS AT TE RAPA MEETING HELD YESTERDAY Keen interest was revealed by the troops at Te Rapa camp in the soldiers’ sports meeting yesterday, which was held on the course proper of the racecourse. Second-Lieu-tenant V. P. Boot, the New Zealand Empire Games champion, did not compete in the events, which were not open to officers. The points championship was secured by D Company, with the 36th Survey Company second, and Headquarters Company third. D Company also secured a. victory in the relay, with Heaedquarters Company second and B Company third. Results of the other events were as follows: 100 Yards—Private D. Tether (D Company), 2; Private P. R. Ward (Headquarters Company), 3. 440 Yards—Private R. G. Strachan (Headquarters Company), 1; Sapper R. Neil (36th Survey Company), 2; Private A. Crawford (B Company), 3. Broad Jump—Private L. W. Kidd, 17ft lOin (D Company), 1; Sapper H. C. Robertson (36th Survey Company), 2; Private W. P. Small (D Company), 3. High Jump—Sapper A. E.
