RACING AT TE RAPA
COURSE TO BE AVAILABLE MINISTER’S COMMUNICATION Arrangements are being made with the military authorities for the Waikato Racing Club to utilise its Te Rapa course on November 16 and 18. In a communication to the Waikato Racing Club, received today from the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, the Minister states: “I have to acknowledge, with thanks, the receipt of your telegram dated 19th inst, conveying the willingness of tne Waikato Racing Club to permit soldiers remaining at the Te Rapa racecourse, subject, of course, to its use of the racecourse on November 16 and 18, 1940, for racing purposes. “In reply, I am pleased to say that arrangements are being made with the Northern Military District Headquarters, Auckland, to meet the wishes of the club in’the above respect.
“Please convey to the Waikato Racing Club my appreciation of its spontaneous action in this matter.
