ARDENT FAITH

MESSAGE BY RABBI BRITAIN’S GREAT PART PAGANISM OF NAZIS (Official Wireless) (Received Sept. 25, 1 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 25 Dr. Hertz, Chief Rabbi in Britain, in a Jewish New Year message, declares : “A spirit of ardent faith and unconquerable hope animates the souls of men and women in this country in the stand against the heathen rage of the Nazi rulers. Britain is fighting for her very existence and on her triumphant victory over totalitarian barbarism depends the whole cause of human freedom. “The House of Israel was the first victim of Hitler’s callous Godlessness, and his declared aim was the disappearance of the Jew from Europe. “When the idols of the new paganism have passed away British Jewry will have a double duty, to assist our crushed and outlawed brethren in their struggle lor rehabilitation and to restore the Jewish religious life wherever it has been ruined by the malice of man or the disintegration of war.”
