Otorohanga’s Progress
The Otorohanga district is making steady progress towards establishing itself as one of the foremost dairying and stock-breeding districts, states a correspondent. During the dairying season of 1938, 31,165 cows were milked within the confines of the Otorohanga county—as against 21,960 in 1929. The total number of cattle in 1939 was 62,216, as against 43,347 in 1929. The peak number of dairy cattle, however, was reached in 1934, when the number in milk was 33,030.
