REFUGEE CLOTHING
ARTICLES FOR OVERSEAS CARGO SPACE AVAILABLE A letter has been received by the town clerk of Hamilton, Mr W. L. Waddel, from the supervisor of the Lady Galway Guild in Auckland, stating that a considerable amount of cargo space would be made available on an overseas boat for refugee clothing and material which had been collected by the Guild. It was expected that during the next few days about 120 tons of the goods would leave the Dominion. Another letter received by the town clerk acknowledges receipt of 14 cases of refugee clothing from the Hamilton Lady Galway Guild. The Guild in Hamilton has received a good response to its appeals, but has stated that, with the intensification of the Nazi bombing of open towns, the need for clothing and other materials for refugees has become greater than ever, and a further appeal is made to the public to assist as far as possible in this direction.
