FAREWELL FUNCTION

POLICE SOCIAL CLUB A pleasant function, although one which held more than a little regret, was tendered by the women’s branch of the Police Social Club in the Masonic Hall, Hamilton East, on Monday night to farewell Mrs G. H. Lambert, Mrs A. J. White and Mrs A. Findlater prior to their departure to Wellington, Rotorua and Te Awamutu respectively. The guests were received by the president, Mrs G. B. Edwards, who was wearing a gown of black tulip taffeta and a black velvet coatee.

A happy interlude during the evening was the presenting to the guests-of-honour and to Mrs Edwards of charming shoulder sprays by Molly Irwin, Joyce Tierney, Joan Smith and Doreen Tierney. The following excellent programme was interspersed with the dancing, the music for which was supplied by Mrs Flyger:—Elocutionary item, Miss Joyce Tierney; tap dance, Miss Doreen Tierney; songs, Miss Nan Campbell, Mrs Wood and Mr George Wheeler. The accompanists were Mrs A. McLachlan and Mr J. Battersby. Prior to the serving of a delicious supper, Mrs H. M. Kirby spoke of the activities of the women’s branch of the Police Social Club, from which the guests of the evening would be sadly missed. Mrs Edwards then made the presentation of blue pyrex dishes to Mrs Lambert and Mrs White and a salad bowl to Mrs Findlater with the best wishes of the club for their future.
