JAPANESE DETAINED
ACTION IN SINGAPORE UNDER OFFICIAL SECRETS ACT (United Tress Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) SINGAPORE, Sept. 23 Six Japanese—four men and two women—were detained by the police on Saturday. Four of them have been released. One man, Mamuro Shimozaki, and Miss Atsuko Yamakawa, were charged today under the Official Secrets Ordinance and were remanded. Singapore to protest strongly against the arrest oi six Japanese. He is to demand their immediate release. One is a member of the Consular staff. The Domei Agency called the British action in making the arrests a national affront and connected the incident with the proposals to give the United States Fleet facilities at Singapore.
