MILITARY WEDDING
P ATTO N— B R OWN BRIDE IN IVORY CHIFFON Knox Presbyterian Church, Huntly, was the scene of a pretty military wedding on Wednesday evening, August 7, when Miss Janet Brown, third daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Brown, of Hakanoa Street, Huntly, was married to Private Terence White Patton, of Huntly, second son of Mrs E. Patton, of Waihi, and the late Mr Patton. The church was beautifully arranged with jonquils, daffodils and camelias. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. P. Rankin, and Mrs G. A. Shaw played the wedding music. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming frock of ivory chiffon, designed with a draped cross-over bodice and long sleeves gathered on the shoulders and tapering to points at the wrists, where they were trimmed with tiny buttons. A ruched band at the waist was outlined with orange blossom, and the full skirt finished in a long circular train. A spray of orange blossom trimmed the V-shaped neckline. Her ivory tulle veil, arranged with a Juliet cap of ruched tulle, was worn over the face, and fell to form a second train-. A sheaf of arum lilies and maidenhair fern was carried. The Attendant Attending as bridesmaid was Miss Nora Brown, of Huntly, sister of the bride, who wore a graceful frock of aqua georgette, fashioned on princess lines, with full puffed sleeves, a Peter Pan collar finished with a large bow, and a lovely fully-flared skirt. A row of buttons trimmed the front of the bodice from neck to waist. She wore a glengarry cap of gold stiffened net, trimmed with two gold buttons, and carried a bouquet of golden daffodils, jonquils and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Private William Patton, of Waihi. as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where the tables were prettily decorated with pink camelias, jonquils and greenery. Mrs Brown wore a frock of petunia romaine with gold trimming, and a hat of navy Pedal straw with a navy ostrich plume. She carried a posy of violets, cyclamen and anemones. The bridegroom’s mother wore an ensemble of Mexican tan wool crepe-de-chine and a peach bloom felt hat to match, trimmed with ostrich plume of a lighter shade. A posy of violets, anemonies and daphne was carried. When Mr and Mrs T. W. Patton left on their honeymoon, the bride travelled in a frock of navy romaine with cyclamen floral panels, a navy coat of Angora wool, and a navy turban fiat.
