500 A MONTH

AMERICAN AEROPLANES DELIVERIES TO BRITAIN LORD NUFFIELD’S MESSAGE United Press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 22 The Ministry of Aircraft Production announces that deliveries of American aeroplanes to Britain total 500 a month. The Minister's emissary, Mr H. F. James, after a tour of United States aircraft factories, said: “The delivery of aeroplane parts has greatly improved. American manufacturers are giving priority to British orders and extending their plants to cope with a still greater output. “The decision of the Packard organisation to manufacture RollsRoyce engines has considerably eased the problem of aircraft engine supply. The rate of delivery of complete aeroplanes will be stepped up rapidly in the very near future.” Viscount Nuffield, director-general of maintenance to the Air Ministry, in a message to the workers, said that in spite of the malevolent air raids, the total output of war productions in Britain last week reached a new high level.
