INVASION OF BRITAIN
SACRIFICE OF TROOPS REPORT FROM NORWAY (United Press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) NEW YORK, Sept. 22 The foreign editor of the ScrippsHoward newspapers, Mr William Philip Simms, has published a letter which he received from an unnamed Norwegian shipping magnate describing Germany’s recent plans to invade England. The letter asserted that Hitler was reported to be willing to sacrifice 80 per cent, of the attacking force for the purpose of establishing a bridgehead. The Germans, the letter went on, had requisitioned 10,000 Norwegian and other vessels, the motors of which were maintained in immaculate repair. The Germans had installed wheels at the bows of boats to enable them to be driven ashore at full speed, each carrying 35 men. Each German would wear British uniform. The plan was to approach the British Isles from all directions in foggy weather, concurrently with an attack by 11,000 aeroplanes. The Germans calculated that the invasibn would be successful if 20 per cent, of the attackers landed, although they anticipated that 50 per cent, would succeed.
