HAPPY AFTERNOON
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION A very pleasant afternoon tea was held at the Centreway Rooms recently when Mrs A. W. Chapman, of Papamoa, entertained a few friends in honour of the coming-of-age of her youngest daughter, Miss Lillias McLean, and to announce her engagement to Mr J. Choat. During the afternoon Mrs Chapman presented Mr J. Choat, who leaves shortly for camp, with a handsome pocket wallet and conveyed to him the good wishes of all present. On behalf of the guests Mr W. F. Choat thanked Mrs Chapman for a very pleasant afternoon and wished the engaged couple all future happiness. Mrs Chapman received her guests wearing a smart spring costume with hat and accessories to tone. The guest-of-honour, Miss McLean, was wearing a clover ensemble with silver furs. Those present were: Mesdames W. F. Choat, C. Choat, S. Hague, R. McLean, J. Scobie. Misses Iris Choat, Thelma Woolford and S. Aicken.
