SCHEME EXPLAINED

EMERGENCY PRECAUTIONS J. R. BAIRD IN MORRINSVILLE At a well-attended meeting of the controllers and committeemen of the Morrinsville Emergency Precautions Scheme held in the Municipal Chambers this week, Mr J. R. Baird, of Hamilton, explained the scheme originated by him and adopted by the Hamilton Borough and district. Representatives of the Morrinsville Borough Council, the Piako County Council, the Morrinsville District Returned Soldiers’ Association and the Morrinsville Branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union were present. At the conclusion of the address, which proved highly interesting, Mr Baird answered numerous questions. The concensus of opinion appeared to be that the scheme was an excellent one, but one which required to be Dominion-wide to derive the greatest use from it. On the motion of the Mayor, Mr W. Hetherington, a vote of thanks to Mr Baird was carried by acclamation. Interviewed after the meeting the mayor, who is chairman of the committee for the emergency precautions scheme, stated that he intended to call the committee together in the near future to consider what steps should be taken to revise the local scheme to fit in with Mr Baird’s proposals.
