GAMES IN HAMILTON WOMEN DEFEAT AUCKLAND WIN FOR N.Z. MORMONS This week at the Hamilton Y.M.C.A. a series of representative matches, men’s ana women's, was held between teams representing Auckland, MoriTnsvllle, Hamilton and the American Mormons or New Zealand. Six matches were played and the general standard or play was probably the lilghe»t and most exciting that has been seen in Hamilton. The main men's match or the evening was between the Mormons and Waikato and throughout the game the capacity house was kept In excitement - . Waikat* started off in great style and gradually established an apparently sale lead. In the last five minute*, however, the defence weakened slightlv and the Mormons with a quick, succession of brilliant plays netted several goals and won by 37 points to 28. Tooman and Gaby were the most prominent or the Waikato team, but Dawson was below his usual form on account or an injured ankle. Robinson and Cross played their usual sound game*. The Waikato women's v team lived up to the high standard expected of it and with quirk passing and accurate shooting established a definite superiority ovr the Auckland women. The Morrins* U< men’s and women’s teams met the Hamilton B grade and C grade rep resen tatlvcr respectively and showed great improvement. Morrinsville men prevailed over the Hamilton tpam by one point and the women’s team lost- to Hamilton C Grade by only one point. The Auckland men's representative? strengthened by the Inclusion of three ol the Auckland Mormons, met the Waikato representative team, which included three of the reserves, and arter a fine exhibition won by 4i points to 27. A special match was between the Hamilton \ grade No. 2 representatives and the Hamilton H grade representatives. The latter lean was defeated by 27—5. The following are the results: Women * matches: Waikato A 38. Auckland 18; Waikato B 27, Hamilton B grade representatives 5; Hamilton c grade representatives 24, Morrinsville 2*3. Men’s matches: N.Z. Mormons 37, Waikato 2*B ; \ uck land it. Waikato 27; Morrliisvllle 35, Waikato B grade 34.
