FARM LAND SALES
GOOD DEAL OF ACTIVITY BUSINESS IN LAST YEAR AGENTS HOLD ANNUAL MEETING “ Business has been quite satisfactory for agents during the past 12 months and a good deal of activity has been experienced in the sale of farm lands,” stated Mr G. S. Boyes, president of the Waikato branch of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand, in reviewing the past year, at the annual meeting in Hamilton last night. “ Agents have availed themselves fully of the institute’s various forms and it is interesting to realise how readily the institute agreement forms are accepted as a sufficient and satisfactory document to evidence a sale,” said Mr Boys. Activities of Branch The past year’s activities of the branch had net been characterised by anything outstanding, but the steady progress in membership and finance had been continued, added Mr Boyes. There were now 44 members of the branch. There were still practising agents in the Waikato area, who were not yet members and it was hoped that these would join in time. The balance-sheet showed that the year’s working had resulted in a credit balance of some £2O and that funds in hand stood at £IOB. This was a satisfactory position. During the year a donation of £5 5s was made to the patriotic society. Officers Elected The following officers for the year were elected:—President, Mr G. S. Boyes; vice-president, Mi H. D. Matthews; committee, Messrs. H. Andrew, C. O. Bennett, A. J. Conning, W. C. Davies, H. J. Hare, C. W. Morey, H. A. Smith, A. Sorby, H. F. Saunders and S. E. Read; auditor, Mr Jones; honorary solicitor, Mr N. S. Johnson; secretary, Mr A. W. Ward. Prior to the meeting the annual dinner of the branch was held. The following toasts were honoured: “ The Chamber of Commerce,” Mr C. Bennett, responded to by Mr C. W. Pepperell, chairman of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce; “ The Law Society,” Mr A. de L. Willis, responded to by Mr H. J. McMullin, president of the Hamilton Law Society; “ The Real estate Institute of New Zealand,” Mr N. S. Johnson, responded to by Mr G. S. Boyes, vice-president of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand; “ The Visitors,” Mr A. J. Conning, responded to by Mr A. E. Manning.
