ENTERING CAMP

FOURTH REINFORCEMENTS MOVEMENT ON OCTOBER 2 FULL DETAILS AWAITED In respect of the announcement yesterday by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, that the men of the Fourth Reinforcements would begin to move to their respective mobilisation camps on October 2, details concerning the No. 4 (Hamilton) military area will be given in a day or two. It is expected that all arrangements for sending the men to various camps will be as they were before the concentration of the draft was postponed. Camps will be as follows:—Papakura: New Zealand Artillery, New Zealand Engineers, 4th Composite Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps, and some of the Infantry. Ngaruawahia: Infantry. Trentham: Divisional Engineers, Divisional Signals, Field Ambulance, Anti-Tank Infantry, Machine-Gun Infantry and New Zealand Army Service Corps Reinforcements. Burnham: Divisional Cavalry and some of the Infantry. Epidemic Limited “I am glad to say the outbreak of measles which resulted in the postponement of the calling up of men of the Fourth Reinforcements has been very limited,” said the Minister. “After consultation with the Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, and the Director of Army Medical Services, Colonel F. T. Bowerbank, it has been decided to proceed with the programme of concentrating men in the respective mobilisation camps and arrangements are in hand for the necessary movements of troops to begin on October 2.”

Although a further outbreak of measles is not regarded as likely, a recrudescence might necessitate a further postponement of the concentration of these reinforcements. Members of this draft, therefore, are instructed to remain in their present employment pending the receipt of individual orders to proceed to camp.
