TROOPS IN EGYPT

BETTER COMMUNICATION BROADCAST SUGGESTED In a letter to the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, a Hamilton resident suggested that better communications with the troops in Egypt would be appreciated by the relatives in New Zealand. He proposed that messages from members of the echelon from different districts should be broadcast direct from Egypt. In reply to the letter Mr Jones advised that complete arrangements for broadcast messages from Egypt as soon as practicable had been made, but there were many difficulties to overcome. The co-operation of all the services in the Empire had been received and he hoped the broadcasts would be accomplished. Mr Jones added that the Government was using its best endeavour to improve and maintain communications between the troops overseas and their relatives and friends in New Zealand. He mentioned the special news broadcast from New Zealand every day.
