MUSIC STUDENTS
THE HAMILTON ASSOCIATION PRELUDES AND DEDICATIONS Preludes and dedications were presented at last 'night’s meeting of the Hamilton Music Students’ Association. The Centreway Rooms were crowded, and the programme was much enjoyed. The treasurer, Mr R. W. Bennett, apologised for the absence of the president, Miss Frances Jolly, who had broken her wrist while skating in the South * Island. He also announced that the association h'as 121 financial members, a record, and recently gave £5 t<p the aeroplane fund. .The programme was as follows, jafch item being applauded enthusi■Bcally:—* “Mimi’s Song ” and “Mimi’s Farewell (Puccini), Miss Desmond Liddy; piano, “ My Believing Heart, Rejoice” (Bach-Rummel), “ Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desirrng ” (Bach-Hess), and Prelude in G Minor (Rachmaninoff), Miss Sidney Strang; songs, “To Music” Schubert), “To Anthea ” (Hatton), “To Daffodils” (Delius), and “ Dedication,” Mrs R. Bradley; quartette. Prelude in E Minor (Bach), Mrs J. R. Wilson (piano), Mrs R. Spragg (’cello), Misses C. McLachlan and M. Wilson (violin); trio. Concerto in D Minor (Vivaldi), Mrs J. R. Wilson (piano), Misses C. McLachlan and M. Wilson (violin); songs, “To One Dead” (Michael Head) and “Toll, Bell, Toll,” Mrs Coltman; piano. D Sharp Minor and C Sharp Minor for left hand Only (Scriabin) and “ Les Collines d’Anacapri ” and “La Cathedrale Englantie” (Debussy), Mrs M. Sullivan; songs: “Old Irish Air” and “ Elizabethan Pastorale,” Mrs E. Quill; trio, Trio Op. 42 (Gade), Mrs J. R. Wilson (piano), Mrs R. Spragg (cello), and Miss M. Wilson violin). The accompanists were Mesdames Hammond, Newton and Spragg. At the next meeting folk songs and dance forms will be presented.
