£40,000 IN HAND
FUND IN MELBOURNE (United Pres? Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 12, 3.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE. Sept. 12 The City Council is giving £25.000 to the fund opened by the Lord Mayor for the relief of victims of the German bombing raids in Britain. When the fund is officially inaugurated at a public meeting today the Lord Mayor will be able to announce that £40,000 is already in hand. The proposal to establish a fund received a prompt response from Victorians. Thousands of pounds have already been received.
