NATIONAL SHOW FIXTURE HELD AT CLAUDELANDS KEEN VALUES REALISED Jersey bulls from all parts of the North Island were on parade at the Claudelands Showgrounds today for the 18th National Show. More than 100 entries were shown and the standard of quality throughout the various classes was regarded as highly satisfactory and comparing very favourably with other years. The show was followed by the national sale, conducted by Messrs Wright Stephenson and Company, Limited. The judges were Messrs C. G. C. Dermer (Feilding), H. Moreland (Newstead), W. H. Miers (Rototuna) and H. J. Lancaster (Palmerston North). Details of Placlngs Results were as follows: Junior championship: Mr W. S. McEwen’s (Pukeroro). Craißknoll Design’s Ajax and Mr J. Jameson’s (Masterton} Tuhltarata Oxford Lark, equal. 1. Two-year-old class: Dr. George Walker's (Whang-arei), Beaulieu Gambeau, 1; Mr A. C. Smith’s (Hamilton), Oaklea Flag’s Raleigh, 2; Mr C. G. C. Dernier's (Feilding), Walpiko Jolly Man, 3. Group of three by one sire: Mr W. S. MoEwen (Pukeroro), 1; Mr J. Jameson (Masterton). 2; Mr J. Boens (Kalpaki), 3. Grand champion: Mr W. 11. Top Price 120 Guinea* Exceptionally keen values were realised at the national Jersey bull sale conducted by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Company, Limited, at Claudelands to-dav Over the early sales the star lots or the offering sold from 0-lgns to I2ogns. An Indication or the strength or the market was provided bv the fact that the first 40 bulls, including yearlings, realised an average or 60gns. ,J Jle sale was a distinct improvement on the same fixture last year and was one or the best sales held in the Waikato Tor several years. The buying beneh was a reeoj'd Tor the Claudelands pavilion. The vendor for the top priced bull at l-.Ogns was Mr A. C. Smith, of Melville whose entry. Oaklea Flag's Raleigh wa< bought by Mr C. J. Lovegrove of Auckland. Waipiko Jolly Man, an outstanding-two-year-old, sold on account of Mr C G. C. Dormer, of Feilding. to Mr m. y‘ Burgits. nr Waitakaruru. at itSgns. Tbe yearling bull Velebit Emperor, from Mr G. E. Yeiehlch. Wafuku. was sold to Messrs Deviclch Bros, Ngahlnepouri, at 110 guineas. Another bull to make above 100 guineas was tbe yearling. Tuhltarata Oxford Baron from Mr J. Jameson, Masterton. The buyer was Mr E. Sinclair, of Cheltenham, at 108 guineas. Craignoll Design’s Ajax, a yearling from Mr W. S. MeF.wen, of Pukeroro. Hamilton was sold to Mr J. W. Brake, of Waimiha. for 109 guineas.
