CARPENTERS’ UNION ELECTION OF OFFICERS (By Telesrranh.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Wednesday The annual meeting of the Auckland Carpenters’ and Joiners’ Union, in the Trades Hall last night was attended by 600 delegates. The president, Mr J. McCormack, was in the chair, and proceedings were orderly. There were keen discussions on contentious matters, the principal interest being centred on the election of officers in the key positions. Several changes were made for these. Voting was by postal ballot and the results were not known until this morning, when the checking was finished. After a continuous session a vote for president -was taken in the hall, Mr McCormack being re-elected, scoring 243 votes to 225 recorded for Mr T. Kelly, who was president several years ago. The postal ballots resulted in a change in the secretaryship, Mr C. Moof defeating the retiring secretary, Mr J. G. Kennerley, by 336 to 279. There were seven nominations for two executive vacancies. Mr A. Greig was re-elected. Mr W. H. Trembath did not stand again and was replaced by Mr T. P. O’Connor. For the position of town organiser Mr R. Stanley was elected, defeating the temporary organiser, Mr R. Giles, by 427 votes to 201. Mr A. E. Waters, of Hamilton, was elected country organiser by 570 votes, which was almost unanimous.
