He is the son of Mr and Mrs N. G. Sutherland, of Hamilton, and formerly of Cambridge. Until enlisting Sergeant-Observer Sutherland was on the staff of the Cambridge branch of the Bank of New Zealand. The Mayoress presented the guest of honour with an engraved wallet. Sergeant-Gunner R. W. Sampson, who was invited, was unable to attend, and it was decided to send with his wallet an accompanying note of good wishes. On Saturday night members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and Nursing Division held a social in the Oddfellows’ Hall in honour of men who are shortly going into camp with the Fourth Reinforcements. Ambulance Officer F. G. Woods presented money belts on behalf of the brigade to Corporal S. Johnson, Transport Officer L. F. Richards and Private F. Hague. He also wished Sergeant L. Sorensen, who had already received his belt, a safe return. Superintendent P. T.
