AIR FORCE WEDDING

PEARSON—CLEPHANE BRIDE IN MAGNOLIA SATIN The marriage took place at St. Matthew’s Church, Auckland, on Saturday morning of Miss Joan Clephane, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs McL. T. Clephane, Auckland Road, St. Heliers, formerly cf Hamilton, and Corporal Lance Pearson, Royal New Zealand Air Force, Wellington, only son of Mrs I. Pearson, of Mission Bay, and the late Mr Pearson, of Hamilton. Canon R. G. Coats officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, were a lovely gown of magnolia embossed satin with long sleeves and a heart-shaped neckline. A slight bustle effect at the back of the waist fell into a train, over which fell the tulle veil from a topknot of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of cream sweet peas and hyacinths.

In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Vivienne Clephane, sister, and Miss Ruth Gordon, of Hamilton, cousin of the bride. They wore frocks of palest blue and pink organdi respectively, with posies of pink and blue flowers at the waistline on a large organdi bow. Haloes of pink and blue flowers were worn on their heads and each carried a bouquet of pink and blue stock and Hyacinths.

The bridegroom was attended by Sergeant Ralph Jones, Royal New Zealand Air Force, Wellington, as best man, and by Sergeant S Guinevan. Royal New Zealand Air Force, Hobsonville, as groomsman. A reception was later held at the Station Hotel, where Mrs Clephane received her guests wearing a frock and coatee of black satin-backed sheer, the lapels of which were appliqued in wfiite. She wore a black hat and carried a bouquet of crimson carnations and anemones. Mrs Pearson wore an aquamarine suit with wine accessories and carried a bouquet of wine primroses, and Mrs H. Ramsay, grandmother of the bride, was in a wine ensemble with a toning hat. Her bouquet was of wine cyclamen. The bridal couple will live in Wellington.
