IDEAL SEASON
PRODUCTION WELL UP PROBLEMS OF GRAZIERS Nature is giving every assistance to Waikato farmers in their drive for increased production. Not for many years has such a favourable spring been experienced in this district, and the prospects for a substantial increase in farm production are very bright indeed. Dairy production for the first three months of the new season was at least 20 per cent, in advance of the level for the corresponding period of last year. The season is over a month ahead of normal, pastures today being more reminiscent of October than of September. As a result, a very active inquiry has been experienced for store cattle throughout the district and unusually high prices have ruled. It is also reported that graziers have been so anxious to stock up in order to control growth that they are even buying boner cattle for this purpose. A record season for lambs is likely as a result of the favourable conditions experienced since lambing commenced. High lambing percentages have been reported and the number of twins is abnormally large.
