DEATH ON SERVICE
18-YEAR-OLD PILOT (By Telegraph.—Special to Tinier) AUCKLAND, Friday Advice that their son, SergeantGunner Laurie Rasmussen, had been killed on active, service was received today by Mr and Mrs F. W. Rasmussen, of 69 Epsom Avenue. Sergeant Rasmussen began his training at Levin last December and left for England to join the Royal Air Force in April. He was only 18 years of age. LARGE FUNERAL HARBOUR CRASH VICTIM (By Telegraph.—Special to Time®) WANGANUI, Friday The airman Pilot-Officer R. M. Goldstone, who was killed in a flying accident at Auckland, was accorded one of the largest funerals held in Wanganui for a long time today, when he was buried at the Catholic cemetery at. Aramoho. A congregation of more than 800 attended Requiem Mass at St. Mary’s Church. A firing squad of 13 Air Force men from Ohakea station fired a salute at the graveside.
