SIX SONS

SERVING COUNTRY HAMILTON FAMILY RECORD OTHERS HAVE FOUR BOYS AWAY Several Waikato families have given three or four sons to His Majesty’s Forces. A record for the district and probably for the Dominion has been established by the sons of Mr and Mrs E. Thompson, of Maeroa, six of whom are serving with the colours. One son, Richard Thompson, is in Egypt with the First Echelon. Another two sons, Walter Thompson and Albert Thompson, are in England, with the Second Echelon while a fourth son, James Thompson, is a member of one of the railway units of the Third Echelon. Another, Frederick, will be mobilised with the Fourth Reinforcements of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force and the sixth son, Busby Thompson, is a bombardier in the 7th Medium Battery, New Zealand Artillery which is training at the Claudelands showgrounds. Four Sons Overseas All four sons of Mr and Mrs D. Martin, of Johnston’s Avenue, Frankton Junction, are serving in the Army, two of them being married men with children. Married with two children, Mr Frederick Martin is serving with the Second Echelon. Mr Leslie Martin, who has three children, is a member of the Third Echelon. Mr William Martin is in England with the Second Eahelon and Mr Herbert Martin in Egypt with the First Echelon. Four sons of Mr and Mrs C. G. Epps, of Cambridge, are serving with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. There are several families with three sons serving.
