VALUES FOR HORSES PRICES TO £49 10s QUALITY SORTS SELL WELL (Times Special Reporter.) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday Largest horse fair in the Dominion, the annual Cambridge horse fair with a total offering this year of 850 horses of all classes, has again attracted large buying benches. Values over the first two days of the sale showed a distinct improvement over those of last year, and today values were well maintained. However, today’s sale was a more variable one, but all good quality sorts brought bidding above £3O and sold to £49 10s. Although no very high prices have been paid, the demand has been far more consistent than last year and more evenly spread. To date, the top price for draughts is £SO 10s, which was paid yesterday. Altogether some 160 horses were offered today, and any passings were generally experienced only in the case of inferior descriptions. As on the second day. South Island horses today were favoured against local entries. Tops of the offering were auctioned from £37 to £49 10s, other good useful sorts from £25 to £35 and less attractive descriptions from £l6 to £23. South Island Horses Mr J. R. Mac Murray, of Gore, South Island, who has some sixty entries at the sale, sold 14 today from £3l to £49. The buyer at the latter figure was Mr Lim Chuck, of Ohakune. The sale, which will conclude on Saturday, is being conducted by the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company. The auctioneers in the rostrum today were Messrs T. J. Loughlin and A .Smith.
