AUSTRALIAN FIRMS

CONTROL TO AMERICA DIFFICULTIES OF FINANCE NEED OF DOLLAR EXCHANGE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) SYDNEY, Sept. 4 According to the Canberra representative of the Sydney Sun, the control of certain Australian firms is passing into United States hands because of Britain’s difficulties in financing her American purchases.* Commonwealth officials, it is stated, have learned of instances where British firms with subsidiaries in Australia have sold their Australian interests to get dollar exchange. In one case this has resulted in an Australian executive being replaced by an American. These transfers from United Kingdom to United States direction are expected to become more frequent.
