KARAPIRO WORKERS
SCHOOLING FOR CHILDREN OFFICER TO MAKE REPORT (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday At meeting of the Cambridge ! School Committee the provision of accommodation for the children of employees at the Karapiro hydroelectric works was again under consideration. The Auckland Education Board forwarded a copy of a letter from the Education Department which stated i that the matter was to be referred to the Advisory Officer for a report. It was mentioned that the Karapiro School Committee had asked for provision to be made for accommodation for the children at that school. The Cambridge committee agreed that nothing further could be done at present. The chairman, Mr L. A. Potts, expressed regret that the Karapiro School Committee had not been consulted when the matter was discussed recently with the Minister, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, in Cambridge. The arrangement for the interview had been made at the last minute. The decision to hold a fancy dress party as usual this year was made, the date to be Friday, November 1. Mr N. Cummins wrote stating that he would be relinquishing his position at the primary department at the 1 end of the second term, as he had been appointed to a permanent position at Tiroa. Thanks were extended to Mr Cummins for his services. The Education Board advised that Mr H. W. M. Downard had been appointed i assistant in place of Mr Cummins.
