CYCLED 100 MILES
TRIP BY MAN OF 80 RETURN JOURNEY STARTEf) (By Telegraph.—special to Times) PALMERSTON N., Tuesday “ It all helps to make one fit,” declared Mr J. R. L. Freeman, of Hastings, when he arrived at Palmerston North, after having cycled 100 miles from his home town. Mr Freeman can claim something of an achievement when it is recorded that he is 80 years of age. He left on the return journey, although he calculated that it would be well into the night before he arrived home.
Mr Freeman said he saw no reason why every man 70 to 80 years of age should not be as fit as he is, but it was only accomplished by leading a proper life. He believes in a fair amount of exercise without overdoing it. The average person ate, draifk and slept too much, and also too many clothes.
