Copyright) SYDNEY, Sept. 3 j Plans for the air defence of the north-eastern part of Australia were announced today by the Minister of Air, Mr A. Fadden. An expenditure of millions of pounds will be in- { volved. i The personnel will consist of 8500 I officers and men. Nine large airtraining schools will be established and will be operated under the Empire scheme. The Prime Minister, Mr R. G. 1 Menzies, announced that Australia’s j naval programme included the con- ‘ struction of 50 warships, which would be completed by next year.
