DAFFODIL DISPLAY

NATIONAL FIXTURE NORTH ISLAND CONTESTS With the principal growers of the North Island taking part, the National Daffodil Show will be held in the Bledisloe Hall tomorrow and Friday, when one of the greatest arrays of daffodils seen in Hamilton will be on display. Excellent entries have been received, the competitors coming from Auckland, Wellington, Hawera, Mar ton, Thames, Eltham and other districts. The net proceeds from the fixture, which is being held in conjunction with the Hamilton Horticultural Society’s spring show, will be devoted to patriotic funds. An indication of the entries received is given by the fact that for the Gibson Challenge Cup there will be 96 vases, comprising 24 varieties of daffodils. In this class atone there will be 400 blooms. A number of challenge trophies will be competed for and a high standard can be expected in all classes. In the Hamilton spring show, also, the classes are well filled and keen competition should be the order. Spacious and well lighted, the Bledisloe Hall is admirably suited to the fixture and will allow the blooms to be displayed to the best advantage. The show will be open from 2 p.m. till 9 p.m. tomorrow and from 10 a.m. till 9 p.m. on Friday.
