FUND CLOSING
PLANE FOR BRITAIN SUBSCRIPTIONS TOTAL £lßl7 APPRECIATION OF AIRMEN Opened on August 20 by the Mayor, Mr H. D. Caro, the Hamilton fund for the provision of a fighter plane for Great Britain will be closed on Saturday. From the day the fund was opened a steady stream of donations has been received, and to date the total is £lßl7 ss. In this way the people of Hamilton have been given an opportunity of expressing in tangible form their appreciation of the airmen who daily risk everything in the Empire’s effort to preserve the principles of right and freedom. With the fund closing in a few days’ time, the time factor in raising the money is again stressed, and those wishing to add to the amount already subscribed are urged to do so as early as possible. Donations are being received by the town clerk and at the Waikato Times Office. The following further donations are acknowledged:—
*The following letter was received with the anonymous donation: “Here is my next new outfit. Come on, girls, the war will be over before the plane is ready.”
