Competition for all classes was keen throughout and prices showed an Improvement. Heavy prime sorts were not a keenly sought as at previous fixtures, but medium-weights and prime hoggets sold readily at fully equal to late rates. A good entry or forward and store-condi-tioned hoggets also met brisk bidding, a total clearance resulting. A medium yarding or rat and store cattle was penned, the entry of fat cattle Including several pens of prime well-finished cattle, which met a ready sale at rates in advance oi those ruling at this week’s Frankton auction. 'Young sound cows and empty heirers were also keenly sought and realised very firm prices. Boner cows remained at unchanged rates. Fully the advertised number of dairy cattle came forward, the entry comprising a fair proportion of good quality heirers. Competition for early calvers was particularly keen and values generally were in advance or recent rates. More backward heifers, although not so keenly sought, sold fully -on a par with recent quotations. A full yarding of pigs, comprising mostly stores and weaners, met a keen demand. Values remained fujly up to those ruling in other centres. Breeding sows also sold well. Competition for bnconers and porkens was fully up to recent rates. VALUEB AT TE AWAMUTU The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report that at their tri-weekly Te Awamutu stock sale on Thursday a good yarding or rat sheep was penned, with competition keen and prices realised remaining on a par with late rates. A medium yarding or cattle came forward. Bidding for beer was not as keen as at recent fixtures and a decline in prices resulted. Boner cows and yearling heirers were keen of sale. There was a medium yarding of rat pigs and a good entry of stores and weaners.
