CHIEF JUDGE TO RETIRE SPORT AND PUBLIC LIFE (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Wednesday Mr C. E. McCormick, Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, is to retire at the end of next month. He is on retiring leave. Mr MacCormick, who has been a Judge of the Court since 1906, is Judge of the Waikato-Maniapoto District, and president of the Maori Land Board of that district. Before his appointment to the Native Land Court Bench he was in legal practice in Auckland. In addition to performing the duties of Judge and Chief Judge been acting-Resident Commissioner, Cook Islands, 1912; chairman of the Native Military Service Board, 1918; and a member of the Royal Commission on Samoa. 1927. Mr MacCormick is the senior lifemember of the Auckland Rugby Union, was president of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association in 1900, and for about 10 years was president of the Auckland Amateur Club. His son, Dr. Kenneth MacCormick. is in England with the Second Echelon with the rank of lieutenant-colonel.
