HOME FORCES CHIEF
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAN'DERS PARTY AT TOOLEY STREET (From the Ofncial War Correspondent attached to the New Zealand Force* in Britain.) DARNBOROUGH, August 31 Sir Allan Brooks, Commander-in-Chief of the Home Forces, today visited the New Zealanders and saw them engaged in regular training. He was entertained at lunch by Major-General B. C. Freyberg. V.C., and senior officers of the Expeditionary Force, were also present. The brigade band, which played to a large audience in Trafalgar Square on Thursday evening, was afterwards entertained at dinner by the London County Council. The band is to play at the Royal Exchange at lunch time -next Friday. A large party of officers and men on London leave yesterday were guests of Hays Wharf, Limited, for an inspection of Tooley Street and especially the facilities for handling New Zealand dairy produce. The High Commissioner, Mr W. J. Jordan. was'present at afternoon tea at the company's restaurant. He returned thanks for the hospitality extended to the troops, the majority of whom were dairy producers.
