OHINEMURI CLUB

REDUCED PROFIT FOR YEAR (Special to Times.) PAEROA, Friday The chairman of the committee, Mr P. E. Brenan. presided at the annual general meeting of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club held this week, when there was a very large attendance. Both race meetings had shown a good profit and the total totalisator turnover for the year was £128,613, an increase of £5752 10s over the previous year. After allowing £496 for depreciation on buildings and setting aside £4OO for taxation and bad debts reserve. the balance-sheet showed a net profit of £B6l for the year, which the chairman compared with last year’s profit of £2971. The decline was mainly due to the withdrawal by the Government of the 1 per cent rebate of totalisator duty, amounting on the turnover for the year to £1286. There were five nominations for four vacancies on the committee, and the four retiring members, Messrs P. E. Brenan, T. A. Barett, H. Dent and W. J. Neil, were re-elected. The chairman referred to the death of four members of the club, Messrs A. Lawrence. W. D. Nicholas, A. Robinson and W. J. Vuglar, during the year, and also paid a tribute to the late Mr R. T. Reid.
