WAIKATO WINTER SHOW COMPARISON WITH MANAWATU “I remember the time when we aimed at rivalling the Palmerston North Show,” said Mr W. H. Paul, secretary of the Waikato Show Association, at a meeting of the executive yesterday. He added that the position had considerably changed in recent years, as a comparison of figures would show. The Waikato Show’s turnover this year was £7166 and its door takings aomunted to £3060. On the other hand, for the Manawatu A. and P. Association’s Show at Palmerston North, the turnover was £I7OO and its door takings were £7OO. The charge for admission to the Waikato Show was Is, while at Palmerston North it was Is 6d in the daytime and Is at night. Mr Paul added that the profit on the last Waikato Show was £534, and that the association had £4OOO in the land and building reserve fund and £289 cash in hand. The association’s assets had risen to £22,741.
