SUCCESSFUL DANCE
N.Z. DAIRY COMPANY Organised by an energetic committee, a highly successful dance, interspersed with enjoyable items, was held by the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company in Toorak Chambers on Wednesday night. The proceeds of the dance are to go towards the funds of a fighter plane for Great Britain. Bowls of daffodils, jonquils and Iceland poppies were effectively arranged about the hall. Behind the orchestral dais were suspended the silvered letters N.Z. D. Co., on a navy background, and two Union Jacks were draped on either side. Excellent dance music was supplied by Mr George Brown’s orchestra. Mr J. Hopcroft was master of ceremonies. The items were as follows: Dances, Miss B. Choat; songs, Miss J. Sutherland; humour, Mr D. Reid. Members of the committee present were:—Miss S. McLaughlan, black georgette; Misses Peggy McCaughan, Wallis blue tulip taffeta; Vivian Westwood, violet blouse with floral skirt; Jean Sutherland, leaf green figured velvet. Among those present were:—Mesdames W. J. Knipe, coffee lace and georgette; P. Elliott, figured ensemble; A. Gudsell, cerise marocain; A. Woolven, black embossed marquisette. Silvester, floral ensemble; Esther Leith, schooner blue craquelle; Joan Webster, ivory slipper satin; Betty Maddill, red and white striped ensemble; June Catley, blue, green and cyclamen checked taffeta; Lois Sturgeon, lemon embossed taffeta; D. McLaughlan, black embossed matalasse; Joyce Flynn, vitriol figured ensemble; C. Teesdale, ivory georgette; M. Teesdale, nattier blue cire taffeta; B. Fraser, tartan tulip taffeta; Irene McMahon, turquoise embossed organdi; Freda Clague, royal blue ensemble; Jessie Thompson, black panne velvet; Muriel Whittaker, black and white ensemble; Rita Collins, emerald green satin embossed with silver; June Harvey, Olympic blue and pink ninon; Gwen Sawyer, checked ivory faille; Mavis Feck, blossom pink Venetian lace; Kath McMahon, black marocain with black velvet coatee; P. Thomas, ivory moire taffeta; J. Runciman, mauve georgette; Margaret Reid, legionnaire red skirt with ivory and red blouse; Beth Kelly, hunter’s green skirt with black blouse; J. B. Darrow, striped faille; Bernice Choat, forest green moire taffeta; Maureen Hare, glade green tulip taffeta; Irene Clague, parchment marocain banded in gold; Muriel Lees, fondant pink cire taffeta; Joy Duncan, cerise blouse with striped shirt; L. McLaughlan, Sherwood green cire taffeta banded in cyclamen.
