WEDDING
LUCAS—COGSWELL CLASSICAL WEDDING GOWN A charming wedding was solemnised at St. George’s Anglican Church, Frankton, on the afternoon of Saturday, August 10, when Mary Hope, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Cogswell, of Waitetuna, was married to Harold Hilditch, second son of Mr and Mrs C. Lucas, of Frankton Junction. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. V. A. Bianchi. The church had been attractively arranged with spring flowers and lilies. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely gown of white French satin cut on classical lines. A spray of lily-of-the-valley adorned the corsage, the back of which was finished with a row of tiny buttons. The skirt fell gracefully to form a long train on which were small sprays of lily-of-the-valley. Her beautiful tulle veil, which was worn over the face on entering the church, fell softly to form a second train, and was caught to the head by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lilies. The Attendants In attendance on the bride were her sifters, Misses Evelyn and Betty Cogswell, and Miss Jean Wilson, of Waimai, cousin of the bridegroom. They wore frocks of ripple chiffon in pastel shades of blue, green and pink respectively, designed with shirred bodices and graceful flaring skirts forming slight trains. Bows finished with matching sprays were worn at the waistline, and they wore tulle bandeaux and matching flowers on their hair. Their bouquets were composed of toning anenomes, carnations and freesias. The duties of best man were performed by Mr Selwyn Aitken, and the ushers at the church were Gunner Dudley Cogswell and Mr Herbert Cogswell. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Centreway Rooms, which were artistically decorated with pastel shaded poppies. Mrs Cogswell received the guests wearing a navy costume, a navy hat and a shoulder spray of daphne and violets. The mother of the bridegroom was in a navy pin-striped suit with a navy hat and a shoulder spray of freesias. When Mr and Mrs H. H. Lucas left by car for the honeymoon, the bride travelled in a honeygold tailored suit, a green hat and toning accessories. They will make their home in Hamilton.
