GAME OF HOCKEY

TOMORROW’S PROGRAMME MATCH AT TE AWAMUTU A Hamilton representative hockey team will be engaged in a trial match with Waipa at Te Awamutu tomorrow. Club games between Hamilton and Waipa clubs have already been played this season, and the standard of play seen in these fixtures suggests that tomorrow’s game should be keenly contested, with the run of play fast and open. Waipa possesses a number of capable and experienced players, notable among them being the Spiers brothers, who will form the nucleus of a strong combination. The Hamilton team is a well-balanced one and should be equally good on attack and defence. A second-grade match between Tokomaru and Arawa w;ll be played at Steele Park. Teams in the women’s association will be free to visit other clubs in the district. Entries for the women’s seven-a-side tournament, to be played on September 7, will close on Monday night. The following team will represent Hamilton in the match with Waipa: R. Puck (Aotea). F. Bowler (Aotea), D. Pountney (Old Boys), E. Farrell (Kaipaki), L. Jenkins (Aotea), Sage (Aotea), K. Campbell (Colts)) J. Hoff (Aotea), J. Powdrill (Aotea), W. Sage (Aotea). Emergencies: Forwards, E. Chard and J. Fountain; halves, Hinton; backs, F. Boyd.
