INCREASE IN TAXES
SOUTH AFRICAN FINANCES (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 29, 3.15 p.m.) CAPETOWN, Aug. 28 The Minister of Finance presented, a Supplementary Budget ol‘ £32.938,000, of which £32,000,000 is required for defence, making a total defence allocation for the year of £46,000,000. The income tax and supertax are being increased by 20 per cent, which would be a special war levy.
