ARMY APPRECIATION

SHOWGROUNDS FOR TRAINING A letter of thanks from the Army Department for the use of the showgrounds during next month for the training of the Medium Battery, was received at a meeting of the executive of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association today. The president, Mr W. R. J. Franklin, was in the chair. The secretary, Mr W. L. Ranstead, reported that 300 men would be encamped at Claudelands for the month. The letter stated that the Army Department would be responsible for the ground being kept in order. “Although we have a large number of calls, the Royal Air Force is certainly doing wonderful work and the least we can do is to give something,” commented Mr Franklin when referring to the fighter fund in Hamilton. It was decided to donate £lO 10s to the Hamilton fund.
