Fine Spell Broken The spell of fine weather enjoyed by Hamilton during the past week was broken this morning, when a slight drizzle of rain began about 8 o’clock. Temperatures were much milder last night, and the sky was overcast.

Donations To Funds A donation of £SO toward the prize money for the forthcoming show, on November 19 and 20, was received by the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association at a meeting today from the Waikato Hunt Club.

Taking of Samoa The 26th anniversary of the capture of German Samoa by an advance guard of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force on August 29, 1914, falls today. The troops were the first to leave New Zealand to take part in the Great War. They landed without meeting any resistance. The force remained on the island for eight months.

Motion Of Sympathy Reference to the deaths of three members of the association, Messrs R. T. Reid, G. Powell and W. Runciman, was made at a meeting of the executive of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association today, members standing in silence as a mark of respect. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried.

Disposal of Potatoes In order to facilitate the disposal of surplus potatoes in Canterbury, the Government is bearing the cost of carriage by rail of such quantities as may be sold to farmers for use as stock feed, according to an announcement by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin. The area within which potatoes may be railed lies between Palmerston in the south and Waiau and Parnassus in the north.

Transport Problems Transport problems were discussed at a meeting of the South Auckland Dairy Association today, when on the motion of Mr J. L. Faulkner, of Morrihsville, it was decided to support the request already made that dairy companys should have free and unfettered right of contract with carters. It was also decided to ask the New Zealand Dairy Board to make strong representations to the Government on the matter.
