SIR OLIVER LOSDGE PASSES WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY WORK INTEREST IN SPIRITUALISM (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 23, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 22 The veteran scientist, Sir Oliver Lodge, died today, aged 89 years. A physicist who made many contributions to modern science and a philosopher with considerable influence on modern thought, Sir Oliver nevertheless will be chiefly remembered by laymen for his work in connection with wireless telegraphy and his championship of spiritualistic evidence of survivation.
