WIJY SHIP WAS HALTED SEEKING MEXICAN GENERAL (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright/ SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 20 Naval headquarters at San Diego say the American destroyer Stack j has been ordered to Acapulco to in- | vestigate the boarding of the freighter ! Herman Frasch. A message from Mexican City says it is unimpeachably confirmed that a Mexican gunboat halted the Herman Frasch upon special orders to appre- ' hend General Juan Almazan, unsuc- ! cessful candidate in* the recent presi- ! dential election, who was last rei ported to be in Havana, Cuba. It is stated that the Herman Frasch was halted within Mexican territorial waters, and that she was also searched for arms. It is understood the vessel was detained for an hour, and was then allowed to proceed. It was feared that General Almazan. who was apparently defeated in the recent election—both candidates claimed victory—would slip into the country and start a revolt.
