DISCONTENT IN ITALY
LITTLE INTEREST IN WAR FOOD PRICES HIGH PEOPLE’S SAVINGS DISAPPEAR (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, August 21 There is evidence in Rome that the Italian people are thoroughly disinterested in the war, states a correspondent of an American newspaper in a message w'hich has managed tc get past the censor. The correspondent reports an evaporation of the people’s savings owing to war conditions and sabotage. Explosions have caused 43 deaths and injured 280 people. Food prices are high, causing further discontent. Damage has been caused in Rome owing to mis-directed anti-aircraft fire.
