After farming at Raglan for a period, Mr Pretty came to reside in Hamilton on his retirement about 10 years ago. Mr Pretty served in the Great War at the age of 52 and was badly gassed. A well-known axeman, he won chopping events throughout New Zealand, including the Dominion championship for the 2ft. chop. His brother, Mr David Pretty, was New Zealand champion for 20 years, world’s champion for four years, and still holds the world record for the 2ft. chop. Mr Pretty is survived by four children. 3IR R. A. FORSMAN The death has occurred of Mr Robert Axel Forsman, at the age of 73 years.
