TOWN BOARD MEETING STATE HOUSES WANTED (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday. At the monthly meeting - or the Learn-ing-ton Town Board on Wednesday night the chairman, Mr J. W. Garland, presided, and there were also present Messrs J. St. John, J. Blackman. W. Morrow, and the clerk, Mr R. S. Hanna. Mrs E. E. Pickering was granted a renewal of her lease or section '505 for a period or 10 years, with right or renewal for a similar period. The Inspector or Health replied to the board on the subject or sanitary and plumbing arrangements in town districts, particularly in connection with new buildings. The communication suggested that all such work should be subject to a permit berore It was commenced. The board has certain provisions under Its by-laws, but is desirous or coming under the provisions pertaining to .town districts, and will consider the matter further at next meeting. State Houses The board decided to make a further application to the State Housing Department for a batch or houses to be built in the district. It was agreed to point out to the department that there was a considerable demand for houses in Cambridge and Leamington, and that this position would 'become all the more difficult with the influx or married workers to the Karaptro power scheme. There was a good number of suitable sections In Leamington for dwellings. The sanding or the south end or Carlisle Street was lert In the hands or the chairman and Mr Blackman, with power to act, also the sanding of the Cook

Street footpath. The hoard decided to strike the following- rates:—-General rate of l 7-8 dln the £ (as last year), Interest rate or 7-1 Gel; water change of £1 14s Od per annum Tor each connection.
