SAME INTENSITY

ATTACKS ON ENGLAND BRITISH FIGHTERS SUCCESS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrlgliti (Received August 17, 1.25 p.m.) LONDON, August 16 The German afternoon raids were apparently of almost the same intensity and character as yesterday’s raids. Bombs fell in quick succession on many points in the southeast when several hundred raiders crossed the coast and proceeded inland. Scores of dog-fights broke out all over England and seven bombers from one formation all came down. A Heinkel exploded in mid-air and many others crashed in fields and on roads, adding to the hail of antiaircraft shrapnel, bomb splinters and bullets.
