ROUGH TACTICS

PLAYERS AND LIQUOR

RUGBY ALLEGATION STAND BY SUB-UNION (Special to Times) TE KUITI, Wednesday At a meeting of the Maniapoto Rugby Sub-union Messrs Cotter and Martin, managers of the senior and junior teams respectively, gave satisfactory reports on the behaviour of players, and also the results of the representative matches held recently. Mr Tapp stated that certain players had been under the influence of liquor before going on the field. These players generally adopted rough tactics and caused unpleasant incidents during a game. Other members were of the opinion that this menace should be stopped, and it was decided to write to the Referees’ Association stating that under no consideration should a player or players under the influence of liquor be allowed to take part in matches under the union’s jurisdiction.
